And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

That's one person that shouldn't be trusted with a firearm
Yeah, I don't know. I was rapid firing a 50 round mag thru a Ruger 10-22 (.22 rimfire). One squib load, then two or three more rounds stacked behind it, then it bulged the barrel, then it finally pushed the stuck rounds out in a spray like a mini-shotgun. When I realized what happened I stopped and pulled the barrel. It was easy to see the bulge and a very heavy lead build up, but nothing like the above. I thinking that's fake.
It is real. JP Enterprises posted a 9mm barrel a couple of years ago that had 22 bullets in the barrel. There was a correction, the hipoint barrel was 45 acp. look it up before you post fake
Fact that. I've got well over 50k rounds through mine. Purchased the first year they came out (1995 iirc) and punished without mercy. Coffee cup size pattern at 75yds. Only 2 problems over that lifetime. Original stock cracked, and while customer service replaced it free of charge, I replaced it with an ATI stock. The firing pin bent with a failure to eject, and again, customer service replaced free of charge. The key at the beginning to an out of the box good running 995 is a complete tear down, filing off the casting flash on EVERYTHING inside it. All stamped parts needed the edges rounded off, since they were sharp as razors. The original and aftermarket magazines were the worst out of the box I've seen, but very easily made into perfect feeders. As with all the parts inside, the inside lips of the mags were sharp and would catch the brass. File and polish those lips round, and the rounds flowed like they were being poured out. For the original $295 I paid for it (2 mags, laser, brake, sling), I've certainly gotten my use out of it. (you can file/mill/drill the cast bolt to lighten it up, and it'll run a lot faster) And Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, had they done a bit of simple 'smithing to theirs, the Colombine would have had a LOT higher body count. And I'm pretty sure we're glad they didn't.
It's a blowback design, no locked breech, like a 22 semi auto, only in 45. There are no shortage of Jootoob folks trying to kill Hi Points. Most give up because they can't afford enough ammo. Those that succeed resort to outrageous abuse.
I believe someone jammed that many rounds into a barrel. I don't believe anyone shot that many rounds into a barrel. Least of all when told so by the PR department of the manufacturer of the weapon in question.
Seen many examples over the years in my shop, a couple RUD's, then you got examples like a 92 in .44, some snow way out in the muzzle and the barrel swells and splits along the lands. You just can't predict what will happen.
I realize that the Hi-Point is the butt of many jokes but, the reality is that there are plenty of YouTube videos involving efforts to cause failures. I'm quite sure that Hi-Point managers would prefer maximum distribution of this story.
I was always told the barrel would explode if this occurred.
ReplyDeleteTry it with 30-'06....
DeleteMaybe each round was a squib? Did he put primer and no powder in a bunch of hand loads?

ReplyDeletesame.
DeleteThere would have been so much blowback you would get it in the face & know something was wrong. It's too clean, no burned powder. I call bs.

Wha-a-a-t? Now we're going to start requiring facts before opinions are offered? When did that start? This will break the internet!!!
DeleteA testament to 2 things.\
