  2. Why don't we see them any more?
Seems like we seen them a lot when I was a kid, 60 years ago.

    1. Because they all fared about as well as the LZ Hindenburg in actual service.

  3. Reminds me of the opening scene in Star Wars: A New Hope with the star destroyer overtaking the little rebel ship.

  4. I grew up in Tustin, Ca where the largest wooden structured blimp structures were built in 1942...17 stories high, 1,000 feet long and 300 feet wide. School field trips were a popular event.

    1. They're still there. They shoot TV and movie bits in them from time to time.

Coupla years back, buncha drunk teens broke in, climbed on top outside, were too drunk to get down, and had to be rescued by FD helo.
That stunt was good for a multi-thousand-dollar bill for service, fines all around, and some jail time.
