And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Halberds, strange weapon, how they where used against pikes, must have caused a terrible attrition rate, takes a lot of guts to try and get past the first couple ranks of pike points to begin being effective, but then again not much else was against the pike.
I believe they were intended for use against cavalry. Use the hook side to pull the knight off the horse and the axe side to crack the armor open once he’s on the ground.
