  2. Walt Longmire says that laying a hat brim down lets the luck run out. There are some other reasons, too.

  3. Stacked lightest to darkest. I keep mine on a hair dresser practice head. It sometimes freaks people out but I am OK with that.

    Joe Pickett always knows a tenderfoot dude if they do not put their hat down brim up. I always lay mine brim up.

  6. You had better stack them with the light one on top - at least if they have ever been actually used, because the oil on the hatband will permanently stain the hat on which it is sitting.
