And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I vaguely remember driving with my grandfather and grandmother going to Detroit's Rotunda (from Tulsa, OK} to get a stock 'Vette in 1967, But looking back I always wondered why he bought a GM product instead of a Ford (Rotunda).
I actually didn't believe that was real, I thought it was another pretty AI-generated 3D artwork (like some photos of very pretty women) -- until I looked it up.
Magnesium body, back in 1957 -- pretty wild. But then they just put the Chevy 289 engine in it -- 300HP. Still probably pretty snappy with a curb weight of just 1850 pounds, but man this would have been a beast with about 450HP and 450 ft-lb of torque and some more appropriate wheels and tires.
Got to see Zoras original 57 race car about 25 years ago when a friend and I were taken into the basement of the Indy museum by the director. As a Corvette restorer and show judge for 25 years, I had no idea it still existed. It sat there with scores of other cars, as it was raced ,dusty and unrestored. Amazing! Bubbarust
looks like it still has a cigarette lighter...grin

What is the tube thing in the back [behind the driver's head (not a headrest ?!)].
ReplyDeleteRocket engine.
DeleteMulti-purpose: headrest, rollover protection & to smooth/minimize turbulence ( = drag) behind the driver's head.

Chevy never made a 289--that was a Ford engine. Chevy made the 283.
DeleteSaw it up close at Laguna Seca years ago...it's just incredibly beautiful in person.
