And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Ive ridden lots of motorcycles that had drum brakes, first time I got on a bike with hydraulic disc brakes, I almost went over the handlebars when I went to slow down.
Ive driven plenty of tractors with mechanical drum brakes, on a old Ford 8-N , sometimes you gotta stand up out of the seat to get enough weight to stop , driven plenty of old Model A Fords with mechanical drum brakes. same deal, you plan your stops ahead of time.
bought the same with a loaded 18 wheeler, you plan your stops and turns ahead of time. my first 18 wheeler was a 1981 International 9670 cabover, with 350 horsepower and NO power steering. was very common even in the 80s for 18 wheelers to not have power steering.
Worth it!
ReplyDeleteBest of luck on the restore!!
Doesn't need to be restored, needs to be made rideable and cleaned up. I'd ride it. Old flat heads have enough horse power.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a display at the Wheels Through Time Museum in Maggie Valley NC.
ReplyDeleteAlan E.
It is.
Deletethe brake drum goes on the left side
ReplyDeleteUncomfortable, dangerous , antique junk. Best as a static display.
