  1. Does anyone make these with carbide cleats? My wife walks on icy roads and the blacktop eats these steel cleats out in a few weeks.

    1. Search for "carbide cleats" using Google and/or on Amazon.

  2. Don’t forget to take them off before coming inside. Don’t ask how I know.

  3. Check out Salomon Winter Cross Spike. Pricey, and look a little fey, but they work. Salomon used to have a more normal looking hiking boot with this spike configuration. I've been using it for years on dog walks when it's icy. Never fell on the slipperiest sidewalks. There is another brand, Icebug, that makes a similar boot. I've never tried theirs.

  5. Have had these, manuf. unknown, and the problem was, the rubbery bits got stuff as old leather in cold temps. You had to put them on in a warm environment, or else they wouldn't stretch, or they wouldn't stay on. Likely mine were a cheap imitations.
