And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I thought it was a Stearman until I saw the extra wing strut and the strut for the horizontal stabilizer. It's a Naval Aircraft Factory N3N. Al_in_Ottawa
AKA Yellow Peril, they have one hanging from the ceiling at the NAS Pensacola Museum of Naval Aviation. Must see bucket list destination. Plan on a few days to see some of it.
Yes, N3N Yellow Peril. My father learned to fly in one of those at USNA. He told me the stick was so sensitive that oversteering could flip the thing and you'd auger right in. There are shots of these on the flightline guarding Hanford and used for bombing practice runs at a winery here in the Lower Valley. Nice place with lots of aircraft images.
this is what I'd call beautiful:
ReplyDeletenice body, nice nose, nice tail

Thanks Al. My first thought was also a Stearman. I recall building a model of one as a kid.
