And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I concur! In '68 Dad and I drove to San Diego to visit his folks. If I remember correctly, there had been a drought (along with the normal heat) but it started raining just before we stopped for the night at the Grand Canyon. The smell of rain, ozone, and whatever the evergreen trees were . . . (pine?) Just heavenly. And after that, the desert bloomed. I wonder how often a saguaro gets hit by lightening? Full of water, and the tallest thing around!
I don't know if I have ever seen such a dynamic dessert photo...

Deletesome of the best rides i've ever been on have been through the desert right after a rain. the smell of the desert after a rain is incredible.
