Mountain lion captured in Los Angeles back yard after hours-long search

Next up for the LA invasion:  wolves

The Los Angeles Police Department responded to the area of Gretna Green Way and San Vicente Boulevard in the Brentwood neighborhood about 10 a.m. Thursday morning on a report of a mountain lion sighting.

The officials were able to shoot the mountain lion with tranquilizer darts at least three times, but it fled before they could capture it.

The cougar was located in a wooded area near the Brentwood Country Club golf course, and officials pursued the animal until it was cornered in the back yard of a home, where it was again tranquilized and taken into custody just after 4 p.m.

Fish and Wildlife officials said the mountain lion would be relocated to the Angeles National Forest.

Bet that cat had a splitting headache the next morning.

  1. There are shocking number of tigers in the U.S. Irresponsible ownership is exactly how you end up with an unintended feral population. You think they get excited about a mountain lion? Wait till an unexpected tiger shows up. It's gonna be fun. I reccomend staying armed at all times.

  2. I am not surprised that a big cat was in the area. It is very close to the Santa Monica Mountains that go out west from there. I lived in a semi-rural area just outside Burleson, Texas, where we had a late night cougar visit 8 years ago. It ate one of our goats. The reason that even though it is essentially the same animal as a mountain lion I call it a cougar is that the area is a couple of hundred miles from any true mountains.

  6. In the late 1970s, a miscreant cut the fences at the zoo in Atacadero, CA. This allowed the ex-Hollywood chimpanzee named Ricky to escape.

The brand new police department (composed of badge-heavy bottom-of-the-class reprobates) had tranquilizers only for large dogs. They shot Ricky multiple times which only angered him. Ricky began chasing the occifers up and down the nearby highway. One that shot Ricky was chased over 1/4 mile, then the same distance back to his compadres. Where upon several of them shot Ricky dead.

  7. The cat is obviously mentally deranged. After all who in their right mind would want to go anywhere near LA, a Metropolis with way more than its share homeless camps, crime and illicit drugs?

  9. It must be hard for a big cat to navigate all the highways and expressways without becoming roadkill.
