Human for scale - Gerald R. Ford class aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78) in a drydock shortly before launch.

  1. My father walked under the Missouri in Norfolk drydock late 1940s.

  2. I've not walked under a carrier, but I did walk under the USS Los Angeles (SSN688) while in drydock, multiple times. I've also dived a torpedo tube while at sea. It's awful dark in a tube if they shut the hatch on ya.

  3. I've never walked under an aircraft carrier, but I have walked on them. Worked the flight decks of USS Enterprise (CVN-65), USS Eisenhower (CVN-69) & USS Nimitz (CVN-68).

  4. This inspires a question: Did Noah walk under the ark looking for a couple of dinosaurs?

  5. Now, if only it had the ability to launch aircraft when they put out to sea.

  6. Weird picture. What is that on the left that looks like a movie screen?

    1. You're seeing the open sky between the dry dock wall and the upper
      hull of the ship.

  7. Gotta say those look like pencil dick shaft tubes, and not very well protected.

  8. I'd be scared to serve on anything called the Gerald R Ford. Same as Jimmy Carter.

    1. Ford was a far better person and president than the media and SNL made him out to be. Said media and SNL portrayed him as what Biden actually is. Ford was more like Trump, able to command a room or an event just by being there.

Like Tina Fay's representation of Sarah Palin. Total hack job but everyone swears what Tina said is actually what Sarah said.

  9. I would swear that wheel looks like it is on backwards.

  10. I thought they liked to keep the hull and prop designs under wraps?
