  1. I just did a quick search to see what an engraved Rigby double rifle like that might go for. I was thinking $100K. I wasn't far off.

  2. my uncle, an 8th grade educated farmer (very successful farmer) had one of many good years in the early fifties and decided to by an engraved shotgun from the winchester custom shop. in those days you got your guns in the mail. he bragged on it before it arrived, perhaps too freely, so his friends got the post mistress in their rural post office involved. the day came when it arrived, she called and said his package was there so he hustled over and got it. when he opened the box his pals had got there first and had put a brick and a BB gun in it. simpler times.

  3. What a wonderful double rifle! Rigby "the Rising Bite Double Rifle" in an exceptional "St James scroll" engraving. Looks like Grade 11 wood and possibly .500 Nitro Express. The case hardening really sets off the engraving. Stunning!

  4. I tried "carving" a scene on the stock of my rifle but the wood was so hard even a dremel tool would barely scratch the surface. Knew a guy in Susanville who carved a beautiful multi antled buck into his all by hand.
