And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Smallish bear. I realize that Japan isn't the gun-friendliest country on Earth, but he could've carried a walking/whacking stick for the eventuality. I do so just in case I run into feral dogs or feral college students during my morning constitutionals. It's been useful once.
I carry an electronic device only dogs can hear and it works well. Wonder if anyone has tried making one for bears instead of bear spray. Seems like a good opportunity.
Hiking staff and a rock hammer. Not sure about the weapons laws in Japan, re large knives, spears and such. Perhaps the web can tell us. I have made it a point since being stationed on Kodiak to ALWAYS carry some type of weapon. Firearms preferably.
Wow! I know I'd rather not have a reminder of the food chain.

ReplyDeleteI do the same, everyone laughs at me, I’ll most likely be fine while they won’t be laughing when an unfriendly pit runs up
