  2. I met Yogi in person twice in Bergen County, NJ. Once in the mid-1950s when I was in high school at a sports store when he was giving autographs. The second in the mid-1960s when I was in law enforcement at a country club at 3 AM when he was sleeping off a drunk in his car parked in the lot.

  5. Even in Texas every Saturday and Sunday TV had the Yankees on. Dizzy Dean and PeeWee Reese. Yoga and Stengel are legends when NY was a great city.

  7. Casey was the Mets' first manager, brilliantly documented in Jimmy Breslin's "Can't Anyone Here Play This Game?" One of the all-time great baseball books.
