And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Some years ago I was doing my share to build a house set way yonder in the mountains. One day my dog did not return for the night. I lay awake most of the night thinking which way he might have wandered.
My distress went through the roof when I heard a pack of 'yutes yelping, then a scuffle, then what sounded like a single dog whimpering.
All the next day and the next was spent searching. No luck, not even a blood trace.
It turned out a pair of old timers, husband and wife, several miles away had taken a liking to him , and him to them.
When my time came to an end I took him to spend half a day with them. He looked at me with those big brown eyes begging to stay in that paradise. The couple steeled themselves against me taking Sam home. It was a sad parting.
It turned out that I shoulda left him with them. Shortly after the damned corrupt dog cops took him in a case of mistaken identity. I protested, we weren't even in the county at the time. Those MFs would not listen. They threatened even to take ny home and to bankrupt me. They did arrest me for trespassing and with crooked smiles befitting Heinrich Himmler, said that was only the beginning of my troubles. The Sheriff nor Board of Supervisors would listen. The damb dog cops executed Sam the next day instead of waiting the two weeks as required.

Rotten assed gov't. In 2000 I adopted a female dog from the county pound and in the contract it stipulated they could take the dog back at any time for no reason at all. Fuck that. We moved 1200 miles away. If anyone tries to kill my dog they will be killed instantly. No diff than if they tried to kill me or my wife.
