  2. The timing of the 1954 introduction of GM’s Corvette as a rival didn’t bode well for Studebaker. The Hawk was a automotive champ before it's time. And like many great things that materialized before their time it was casted aside and ignored. OK, let's move on to the Avanti…..OOPs

  3. Don Johnson drove one of these in a movie set in Texas called "The Hot Spot" with Jennifer Connolly and Virginia Madsen and directed by Dennis Hopper....pretty damn good flick....

  5. If you watch Acorn TV, and you should for some great shows, the series Jack Irish, 2012, has the main character, Jack Irish driving a Hawk, or the Australian equivalent. Turn close captions on if you watch it, helps tremendously with understanding the dialog. The Hawk was also advanced aerodynamically for the time and was used frequently for drag racing.   7. The Golden Hawk (or just the Hawk) remain interesting cars for collectors. There are aftermarket parts still made for them according to a friend of mine who drives Studis

  8. The Raymond Loewy-designed Studebakers of the early to mid 50s were some of the most streamlined cars of their day, and set many Land Speed Records in their time, obviously aided by their slipperiness. The later ones with the stand-up grilles and trendoid tailfins a bit less so.
