Wise Guy, that Elon

  1. Until 'they' come up with a way to block the signal, unfettered communication is going to open things up!

  3. Musk may be the greatest con man of our age but he's also got a rebellious streak a mile wide.....

  6. And Michael Sheetz is obvious a world-class STOOPID m*****f*****, since Musk just explicitly told him the satellites won't be downlinking directly from overhead, and explained how that works.

This is like telling one of these tech editor clodhoppers that a ship runs on nuclear fuel, and them then asking how many miles-per-gallon of unleaded it gets.

80-IQ journalism school cementhead f**ktard FTW!

  7. Pretty sure the "downlink" is referring to communication between the satellites and their ground stations/gateways. The gateways are what connect the Starlink system to the earthbound internet (and no doubt provide the satellite with comm to Starlink ground control station).

This downlink (and uplink) is a separate signal from the signal being transmitted to/from the Starlink antenna on your rooftop. Right now the gateway and your Starlink antenna both have to be visible to the same Starlink satellite, which would tend to require a gateway/ground station to be located in the same country as your antenna (unless you're in a really small country). However with inter-satellite communication, the signal from your house antenna can be relayed from satellite to satellite to satellite and eventually to a ground stations well outside your country.

While I agree that the press is generally abysmally educated about anything other than today's "official narrative," in this case it was a valid question to Elon, which he essentially confirms with an excellent answer.

  8. What a wonderful tweet. I watch everything Musk does these days, because in the near future we'll all be saying "Thank God for for this guy."
