And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Pontiac Bonneville Convertible, 1966 -- and that color, love it or hate it.
Had a '65 Catalina - light blue. A 25 gal tank, and it got 25 mpg on the highway. Got smashed up when it was parked on the street and someone going fast hit the back end and pushed the car up over the curb. Off to the junk yard, sigh.
We had a later model Catalina wagon - the early 70's, when they were banging the bumpers with baseball bats on the television commercials. Simple, big, roomy, powerful, with a transparent steering wheel.
Saw something like that at the Fri/Sat night street drags in South Philly around '70. That SOB was yanking the front wheels off the ground when he launched. Looked and sounded fairly stock, but he beat everything that challenged him. Only saw it one night, IIRC.

ReplyDeleteWhoever came up with that color had their taste right next to their hemorrhoids....
