  1. "Not legal in all states"... some places out west own the rain.

  2. Not as new but I have one for my garden.
Don't know how any government agency can make you not use rain from the sky how you see fit.

    1. It's called Rainwater Piracy.
      No I'm not kidding.
It prevents rainwater from replenishing the aquifer.
No I don't agree with it.

    2. As if you're going to truck the water out of state? I wonder what they think happens to that water other than delay it going into the ground by a few days, tops?

    3. @Larry, it ain't about the water.
      It's about control.

  3. Read somewhere that a person added a diversion to the gutter above this. When the rain first starts the water goes elsewhere until the dirt/leaves/twigs are washed out. then the switchover takes place to let the water run into the collection barrel.

  4. Fit an overflow kit to take excess to drain and you have a constantly refreshed full water butt. We water the garden and flower pots for free, and without work of any kind, all the year round. One at front and one in garden. Not sure of capacity but heck the Thames Valley isn't Nevada.
