  2. When I got out of the Marine Corps, my first employer had had a banner year the year before I was hired. They wrote two checks, each for five million dollars. One was for a Lear jet. The other was for 5 Megabytes of memory for a S/370 168 MP computer.

  3. And the hard drive a stack of those disks sat in was the size of a dishwasher. We carried shoe boxes of IBM punch cards programmed in Fortran IV.

  4. I worked with a computer storage system in the early to mid 80's that was the size of a two-drawer filing cabinet, had five internal plats capable of storing ~5MB and if you powered down the system incorrectly the plats would slam together and bounce the storage cabinet ~2' off the ground.
