And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

American grocery stores on Capitalism -- a powerful political force for good.
Don't worry my Cuban friend, there are millions of idiots here that want your Cuba that for us. You just might be seeing the same fookin' thing soon enough.
It won't change the ideas of the millions of college indoctrinated liberal idiots, because they think Socialism/Communism regimes have just "done it wrong" and now they have the right recipe to succeed.
Back when Bush Sr. was president (1989) Boris Yeltsin came to the NASA space center for a tour, down in Clear Lake outside of Houston. On the way back, he took him to a big Randall's epicurean - at the time, one of the Houston leading supermarket chains. Yeltsin was completely demoralized and said to his aides later that if Russians knew about such supermarkets there would be a revolution. Two years later he left the communist party.
"This is horrible! Inflicting this trauma, this profound sadness upon this poor visitor. How dare you stage this propaganda event to dehumanize, to lord our corrupt, excessive, and repressive system and show him the sheer unnessasary volume of choices and foodstuffs. My comprehensive bill, which I will introduce....." - Ms. Boobs-over-Brains.
We we’re stationed in Italy during the 70’s and I did most of my shopping in the base commissary. Returning home to American grocery stores and seeing the choices available for facial tissue absolutely overwhelmed me. I understand what this gentleman is experiencing.
Read the book, “MiG Pilot”. It is the story of the Soviet MiG 25 FoxBat pilot who flew his aircraft from east Russia to Japan to defect, I believe in 1975. After he is brought to the states and debriefed he was taken around to grocery stores and was in utter disbelief at the abundance of food. Almost to the point he thought it was a setup by the gubmint. He wound up on a working family farm and was amazed at how productive the farm was with only 5 family members working it as opposed to the collective farms in the Soviet Union.
Have a good look. It will be all gone in a few years, and all the left idiots that voted for Pinocchio Joe will continue blaming Orange Man Bad because they first were STUPID eno8ugh to vote for Joe and then STUPID enough to admit their mistake.
Aldi, a chain that has very limited distribution, basically one or two brands of a single item....total, example, flour, they have 1 or 2 kinds. A regular supermarket might have 40. Aldi stocks about 2K items per store, a traditional grocer might have 25K. He was amazed at Aldi, he would have a heart attack if he went into a Meijer or Super Stop & Shop.
I took a russian visitor at the place I worked to a Jewel in the mid 90's he was very pro russian, but even he could not believe the abundance of goods....He was shocked, "This country is so wasteful...you have 23 kinds of shit paper!". He also bought jeans to send home to the women.
i used to work with some guys from former soviet locations, Ukraine, Bulgaria etc. one of their grandmothers came over to visit, they took her to a Publix in Atlanta, and she sat down in the floor of the store and cried. one guy from Ukraine saw the berlin wall come down, and he and his pregnant wife and four kids started walking. they arrived in the US with $67, and now his net worth is way more than mine, just because he works so hard and spends so little.

ReplyDeleteEveryone everywhere should see this. Contribute to that effort and share it with your friends.
