If you're going to survive the TEOTWAWKI, you'll need to know how to make bread from scratch

  1. I like the "no knead" method.
    Flour, water, yeast, salt.
Start it after breakfast and eat it for supper.

  3. Hi C.W.,

    "BEER BREAD!!!!!"

"And," if you have a spare 12 oz. Beer around...

    Turn on the oven 350*F...
"3" cups of "self rising" flour.
"2" tablespoons of sugar.... "regular ol' Dixie Crystal!!!"
"1" 12 oz. Beer (ANY KIND!!!)

Mix well, spray some non-stick spray in a bread loaf pan.. put dough in...
    Bake!! 350*F for 1 hour....
about 10 or so min. before done... put a 1/4 stick of Butter in a sauce pan over the heat riser on the stove... when the bread is done it will fall out of the pan.. put on a couple of paper towels and pour the melted butter over the crust!! Let cool a few minutes and....
    "Enjoy!!!!!"

    1. Yep, I make this every couple of weeks, but I use 3 tablespoons of sugar instead of two. Easiest homemade bread and it goes great with stew or soup.

  4. My favorite line from an old cookbook: "Fresh baked bread is one of the few gifts of the gods NOT mediated by an hierarchical priesthood!"

  6. I've been using a variant of that recipe for years cooked in a pre-heated Dutch Oven. It is an easy "no-knead" recipe that uses four ingredients (yeast, flour, salt, and water). Enjoy.
