And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Word around the Colt collector community has always been that Glenn Ford really was one of the fastest draws around. Believe it or not Sammy Davis Jr. was considered the fastest.
Great gun handlers include Robert Culp, Jerry Lewis and James Garner. Peter Breck (The Big Valley) could give them all a run for their money regarding the speed of his draw, timed at 16/100ths of a second. IMDb claims he was the fastest draw in television history.
And about Jeanne Crain, weren't we just talking about Hollywood's fabulous babes?
'3:10 to Yuma' (1957) with Van Heflin has my vote. 'Cowboy' (1958) with Jack Lemmon is also excellent, as is 'Jubal' (1956) with Rod Steiger and Earnest Borgnine.
Yeah, but yo ou haven't lived until you've watched "The Rounders" that he did with Henry Fonda and I believe Chill Wills(?) One of the best comedy westerns there is! IMHO.
The Rounders (original) seems to be available on Amazon Prime for $1.99. Which I will attempt to pay this evening. If so, well worth it. Watching a lot of free crap, no problem paying Two Bucks for something worthwhile.
If ANYONE can fine Hallelujah Trail with Burt Lancaster, please let me know. Another classic western comedy that's difficult to find (I've failed so far).
Broderick Crawford's co-star on Highway Patrol, Terry Frost, from IMDb-
"Now, he also had a couple of quarts of vodka in the prop truck, on ice. After every scene, he'd say, "Let's freshen up." So we'd go over to the prop truck, he'd take a drink and hand the thing to me. I'd blow bubbles in the darn thing and give it back to him! Come wrap time, I'd start to have a few, too! He'd get pretty stoned sometimes. One afternoon after one of these days with these long freshening-up rituals, he tripped over a cable and sprained his ankle, and he said to me, "Geez, you can handle that stuff!" He thinks I've been drinking drink for drink with him, and the whole time I've been blowing bubbles in his vodka."
This is on Grit at least once every 2 weeks.

I enjoyed that movie and Glenn's other western "The Sheepman".

My dad used to call him "Stumble Bum" when he starred in Highway Patrol.
