This giant sequoia tree is called “the President” and is 247 feet tall. There are four men visible in this picture. Embiggen and see if you can find the two hard ones.

  1. One in yellow jacket hanging about a third of the way up, the forth is about three quarters up in a crook of the center of the tree with what looks like a brownish coat and a white banded helmet or hat.

  2. Difficult to tell if they're hard though from that distance.

    1. Dang, you beat my "wood" comment. in_my_humble. I'm deflated. I must be getting old.

    2. The fourth guy is on the left, wearing a green jacket, about ten feet below the top guy, and hanging off a limb near the outside of the crown.

  4. My sister had the biggest Redwood in Big Sur, about 230ft tall IIRC. When those size trees drop a branch, it's about the size of a complete normal tree with a 3ft trunk. Her driveway parking area was around it. It took a backhoe/excavator to dig it out of the gravel drive. The California indians called those branches "whispering death".

  5. I think this may be a doctored photo; if the bottom three guys are all about six feet tall, the guy at the top must be about 12 feet tall.

    1. The way I heard it explained, the crown on this tree is so big, that guy on the top is significantly closer to the photographer than the others. I'd also think this photo is likely stitched together from several, in order to get the whole thing in some sort of proper perspective, but I don't know for sure.

  6. I'm more interested in the hundreds of skinny trees that are almost as tall.
