  2. When reading O'Brien and Forester, I always remind myself that those ships were the absolute state-of-the-art, the most advanced military hardware of their day. That great picture perfectly illustrates the concept!

  3. Cynyr, I toured the "Lehmkuhl" in Bergen, Norway.
    I had that exact thought - that I was looking at the culmination of two or three thousand years of sailing technology improvements.

  5. No doubt about it. The corner is astounding but the weak link is the rope! One rope of that size to hold it to the rigging? Don't know about that.
