And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Governor Gavin Gruesome: No Fourth of July celebrations, peons! I have spoken!
Hmmm. Wonder if LA has that stupid Shot-Spotter sonic detection system up and running? If it did, bet it had an aneurysm.
In my city, where the city council and mayor have consistently shat upon Independence Day and grudgingly 'allowed' the local university (of Beijing)to fire off on July 3rd, because this city is an anti-American pustule, the locals have been ratcheting up private displays, all banned, of course by one way or another, to the point that if I had a drone or tethered hot air balloon (okay, drone, hate heights) this place could have competed with LA.
I spent much of my life living in the LA area, and despite the anti firework laws, this is how the people in SoCal have been giving the middle finger to the politicians all my life.
Up here in the Northern Wilds of Idaho we don't have the over oppressive laws about fireworks and yet we gave as well or better then ya'll down there in LA, And we have the Indian Rez's close by to buy the really good stuff.
Maybe they were held under the guise of rioting (which is sanctioned).
ReplyDeleteEither the angelenos found some balls, or those were all from illegal aliens.

My town, majority Hispanic, was the same. My Hispanic neighbors love fireworks, and they love America.
ReplyDeleteBanning fireworks is about as effective as banning beer.
Hey LA, well said.
