And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I prefer the original concept for c5 landing gear before USAF decided they needed to screw it up. the gear was fixed, none of this crosswind, kneeling rotating crap. large necalles slipped over the wheels and smoothed the airflow. about six tons of weight saved from structure. but no. had to have their complex little toys. so Lockheed had to take six tons of weight out of the airframe to accommodate the complex crap. they took it out of the wing. Idiots. so then the wings cracked and the airframe was limited to 8,800 hours unless there was a war. and we spent even more money on it to fix what wasn't broken
it would bring tears to the eyes of a rubber baron to see one getting towed into a tight spot. the rubber would peel off the tires and blow across the ramp in the wind like a black cloud. enjoyed watching the first flight in georgia where one of the nose wheel tires went bouncing down the runway after the takeoff. portended ill future maintenance issues.
Now do an Antonov AN 225
ReplyDeleteI wonder what the cost-per-tire is?
ReplyDeleteHow much for a tire rotation and alignment ?
ReplyDeleteChanging/working on one of the inside tires must be a real pain. Glad I'm no longer a crew chief.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the post.
