    1. They were good at close quarter fighting. One of the worst days for the British Army was at Maiwand. Once the Afghans got past the guns it was all over.
      In my collection there is a 1850's Royal Artillery sword, sharpened for service, with a Afghan hilt. The tales it could tell.
