And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

I was at a local airport once when an Ercoupe club flew in. It's cool seeing six or seven of these all together.
Every summer, and just last week, Mt Vernon, OH, gets a convention of 1930's Waco biplanes. All beautifully restored and flown regularly. Waco owners gather from all over the US, and spend 4 days schmoozing and showing off their birds. It's free to all. And some owners will offer rides.
Was driving south on I-5 several years ago near Crows Landing when a pair of Ercoupes came over the rise at about 500 feet. Neat surprise.
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful.

I went up in a Waco biplane (forward cockpit) years ago. There was a strip in Conway, NH that offered rides. What a gas.
DeleteWhat a neat little airplane. A little research produced advertising for them from....Macy's!

Is that cool or what?
Those are cool little planes. There is a Mooney version at the local airport. I like the twin tail better.
ReplyDeleteAn old friend used to fly one, he said it was slow as could be. Just the plane for getting cross country hours.
ReplyDeleteThe German version was Her` Coupe`....
ReplyDeleteYes it was a great time builder. I once flew one from Denver to oakly Kansas, with about a 15 knot headwind. was passed by a amtrack train.
