E. Fay Jones, a Frank Lloyd Wright protégé, designed a very simple, but fantastic modern chapel in the Arkansas’ Ozark Mountains. This June marks the wooden chapel’s 35th anniversary.
Genius! It's hard to design a unique church and make it uplifting and beautiful, but this fellow did the job.
I spent some time in Eureka Springs and Mountain Home Arkansas 30 years ago but never heard of this place. The Ozarks are fabulous. I may be headed back in a few months.
Nice reminder.
ReplyDeleteThank you, it is my neck of the woods...
ReplyDeleteThat design is similar to the Holy Family Shrine near Gretna, NE. Easily seen from I-80, it is a private Catholic endeavor supported by donations.
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve,
DeleteI didn't know about Holy Family Shrine... beautiful.
