And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

To heck with floatplanes, I want one of these
Lockheed-Martin T50A
"Honey, I'm stepping out for a few minutes to pick up some milk at the store...."
If you go to the Reno Air Races, there are a lot of former Soviet jets for sale and they're not that expensive. Sure, you have to fuel them and insure them and house them and fix them. (if it flies floats or f#%*s, lease - don't buy)... Despite that old and time honored rule, I would buy one if I lived in that area. I would surely die in the cockpit (with a smile on my face).
If you had a Ducati Diavel, you wouldn't want to leave the she-devil behind when you died...thus you live.
I don't think that the same thing would be true if I owned this https://www.trade-a-plane.com/search?category_level1=Jets&make=MIKOYAN&model=MIG+29&listing_id=1740438&s-type=aircraft
The only privately owned MiG 29 in the US and it's for sale.
The T-50 was developed as a high performance trainer and light attack aircraft for the ROKAF. Now, with Lockheed-Martin as sponsor, it is entered in the DoD T-X playoffs. There is lots to see on it and the others entered in the competition if you have the time and the inclination to look.
Nice looking jet! Even looks like the back seater might have some visibility out of the front. (which the old IP in me appreciates)
ReplyDeleteThat is a tight machine, I love it.
DeleteYou can buy them.

I know! That's why I don't have a motorcycle - screaming death at high speed would only be a matter of time.

I'm sure there are a ba-jillion parts for that that are about impossible to obtain, except in the third world and at high prices.
DeleteIf you can afford to buy it, I don't think that the high price of spares would be much of an issue.
DeleteHeh. Forgot to mention the store in in Vegas.

Thanks, Dave, I'll spend some time to take a look this weekend.
