And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Chief Quanah Parker with three of his wives, a son and a baby in a cradleboard. - Lambert - 1905
The story of Quanah, his mother and of Texas and the Comanche is a particularly interesting one. Sitting Bull always admired and coveted Quanah's fine house that the US Army built for him at Ft. Sill, OK (It's still there).
Much history on Ft Sill. I had on post housing on post and the housing area was called Quanah Parker Square. it is an interesting note that I often see his grave. I work two blocks from the cemetery that he was moved to on ft Sill, and its just up the hill from my sons grave in the same cemetery. Thank you for this interesting photo
