And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Vincent Van Gogh View of Arles, Flowering Orchards, 1889
Examples of High-Value Van Gogh Paintings: Orchard with Cypresses: Sold for $117 million in 2022. Portrait of Dr. Paul Gachet: Sold for $83 million in 1990. Labourer in a Field: Sold for $81 million in 2017. Self-portrait without a Beard: Sold for $72 million in 1998.
I love French Impressionist painting. If you like them and if you are ever in Philadelphia, there is an incredible art museum on the Ben Franklin Parkway near Center City, called the Barnes Foundation. It may have more paintings then the Musse Orsay in Paris.
don't like
ReplyDeleteThat one might only bring $25M at auction.

I'm of a similar view, it's pleasant but I'm not a fan of this or most of his others.
DeleteI prefer Monets but this one isn't too bad. Art, like style is in the eyes of the beholder.
ReplyDeleteExcept the "style" of pants dragging so low you need a hand to lift them so you can run. Thats just dumb.
Really appreciate his free hand approach, a snap shot from his minds eye.
