And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Studies indicate that wind turbines cause a small fraction of bird deaths compared to other human-related causes, such as domestic cats, buildings, or even vehicles. Of course, you won't believe that. You no doubt subscribe to the Trumpian view that 'windmills' are a waste of time.
I used to climb towers for a little company in Westminster, MD a 'while back'. An 'old timer' at the time told me (and showed me) that "you're really only scared of heights up to about 50-75'. You'll bounce, and it'll hurt. A lot and possibly for a good long time. Above that, you're scared of dying. It's gonna hurt the whole way down, but after that it probably won't hurt at all. After his words of wisdom, towers didn't scare me as much. After 75', I'd usually remove the clip from the ascender, and free climb it to do what was needed. My highest was the WBFF tower in Baltimore, 1280'. My only words of advice I never got from anyone before I figured it out...don't look up. If there are clouds, you'll swear the tower is falling.
Eco atrocities.
ReplyDeleteYes, killing machines. Coincidentally, sometimes producing electricity and going through copious quantities of oil and gear lube. Wutta deal!
