‘Fuzzy’ the Bear Breaks into South Lake Tahoe Ice Cream Shop

The customer was a bear who decided to break into the shop at Camp Richardson and peruse its offerings, KATV reported Wednesday.

When they arrived at the scene, deputies with the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office could not believe what they saw, and took action to coax the animal outside.

“With some encouragement, the bear ultimately left, but only after showing interest in the strawberry ice cream.

Straw-bear-y.

Thankfully, Fuzzy the bear caused barely any property damage and there was barely any cleanup,” the sheriff’s office explained in a social media post Tuesday.

I've got some bear stories from South Lake Tahoe.  In spite of the near urban environment, those bears are out there, more of them that you think.

  1. The bears in Tahoe are quite unafraid of humans. And have no qualms about entering or breaking into places...even inhabited places. A few years ago one strolled through the automatic front door of the local hospital and checked out the lobby for a while...

  3. I would much rather have Fozzie the Bear show up at my place. He told Dad jokes 40 years before we herd the term.

  5. There are bear a lot places people don't know about. I took my Blue Heeler into the Wayne National Forest when I lived in SE Ohio, and, supposedly, there were no bear in the area. However, about a half mile later on the trail there were fresh bear tracks - less than 2 hours old. I called the dog to me and left the area quickly as my dog would have tried to attack the bear.
