Anon 1:42: I believe this Mustang paint scheme represents the 352nd Fighter Group (The Blue-nosed Bastards of Bodney). The "HO" on the fuselage indicates the 487th Fighter Squadron within that Group. Three of the highest scoring aces in the 8th Air Force came from this squadron. While it is unlikely they had any lace curtains in the cockpits, your grandma's panties could have been.
