And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Metal slides, hot days maybe not wearing shorts or a dress, the good old days were children learned survival skills on the playground. Today not so much.
The merry go round is how we learned physics. Also doubled as a materials lab. Did you know that a leather belt attached to the center post at one end, a single belt loop of a boy weighing ~30kg at the other end is good for 2.4 rotations, on mean average?
Then there was the challenge of climbing to the top of the slide, starting from the bottom. I think it was a boy thing, as just about every boy had do to do it.
I did not see it at first, but there is actually a little kid going down, right at the moment when the picture was taken (center of the slide).
