  1. Back in the summer of 1965, my military school roommate and I visited another classmate who lived in Santa Monica. Next door to our classmate's home was the home of Stan Laurel.

    1. Stan was listed in the phone book too, and answered his own phone.
      Dick Van Dyke called him up once and said he'd always been a big fan of Laurel's work.
      Laurel: "Yes, I know, I've seen your act."

  2. My ex-mother -in-law apparently was delivered by a physician that was (anecdotally) Oliver Hardy’s twin brother. He was a doc in early Las Vegas and her family lived in Death Valley at the time, her father a foreman at the Harmony Borax Works.

    Due to Oliver Hardy's appearance with John Wayne in The Fighting Kentuckian, the pair become a virtual Rosetta Stone to winning at "Six Degrees Of Bacon".
