  2. I remember the 1960s version very well. My local guitar store seemed always to have one hanging on the back wall. Thought for a while about buying one, but picked up a very well-kept, used D-28 instead.

  3. I got a Pan Hummingbird for Christmas, 1977. It is a Japanese copy, but still a great grunt box. That finger guard doesn't have much if any wear.

Played some H'birds that sounded great. And I've played some that have been very disappointing. Spent months playing acoustics at a bunch of different music shops. Ended up buying a new Martin HD-28p and have never regretted it.

High today in Pine Grove is 78. Now that's what I call great weather.

  5. That there is an old one, and I too remember Gibson acoustics as having inconsistent quality. Some amazing. Some lifeless. Martins have always been the best, and most consistent commercially manufactured boxes. Every picker who is anyone has at least one.
