And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Back in '73 three frat brothers picked up one's new GF at a women's college 25 mi. east. They were in a VW Bug, and the driver wanted to scare her. He parked on a concrete boat ramp that had BB-sized pea gravel on it. Slid into the Tombigbee R. She couldn't swim but was rescued.
So, two other frat brothers that were certified scuba divers said, "we'll find it". Next day, dove in. Both had 1MM candlepower lanterns. One got in to the main channel 20' deep. Turned his light around and a HUGE catfish was 1' away. He got the hell outta there as did the other.
A month later it beached on a sand bear 30 miles south.
Had a late friend who was a welder for the TVA. He said that on some dam inspections they had to go down in shark cages, as the cats were as big as a VW bug.
