And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
WB-57, a highly modified English Electric Canberra bomber used for high-altitude atmospheric monitoring. It looks like they have added 8ft to each wing! Al_in_Ottawa
Ugly birds but our Air Force Airdales did love them when in use over Vietnam The critters could carry a quite large bomb load a LOOOOONG way and deliver same quite accurately. Tough birds as well. Read a book title of which I can not remember now about the aircraft while in high school. Interesting read.
I saw a photo of one where gravity was stronger than the wing which had failed just outside the starboard engine - the tip resting on the ground meant it wasn't going to taxi anywhere.
recce canberra.
ReplyDeleteNASA still flies 3 B-57s for high altitude research. Just wild.
