And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Stan Rogers. Look up Barretts Privateers, no music, true sea shanty. Great sea shanty. First 2 verses and the chorus.
Oh, the year was 1778 How I wish I was in Sherbrooke now A letter of marque came from the king To the scummiest vessel I've ever seen
[Chorus] God damn them all, I was told We'd cruise the seas for American gold We'd fire no guns, shed no tears Now I'm a broken man on a Halifax pier The last of Barrett's privateers
[Verse 2] Oh, Elcid Barrett cried the town How I wish I was in Sherbrooke now For twenty brave men, all fishermen, who Would make for him the Antelope's crew
