Premier (Governor) Danielle Smith: I met with Prime Minister Mark Carney today at his request. We had a very frank discussion, during which I made it clear that Albertans will no longer tolerate the way the federal Liberals have treated us over the past ten years. I provided a specific list of demands the next Prime Minister, regardless of who that is, must address within the first six months of their term to avoid an unprecedented national unity crisis. This includes:
• Guaranteeing Alberta full access to oil and gas corridors to the north, east, and west
• Repealing Bill C-69 (aka. “No New Pipelines Act”)
• Lifting the tanker ban off the BC coast
• Eliminating the oil and gas emissions cap, which is a production cap
• Scrapping the so-called Clean Electricity Regulations
• Ending the prohibition on single-use plastics
• Abandoning the net-zero car mandate
• Returning oversight of the industrial carbon tax to the provinces
• Halting the federal censorship of energy companies
As the resource owner, I also made it clear that Alberta will not accept an export tax or restriction of Alberta’s oil and gas to the United States and that our province is no longer agreeable to subsidizing other large provinces fully capable of funding themselves. Lastly, I made it clear that federal mismanagement of Jasper and Banff national parks resulted in last year’s tragic wildfire in Jasper and is endangering Banff, and the situation must be rectified immediately. With the federal election about to be called, I encourage all Albertans to get involved in what is likely one of the most pivotal and important elections in our nation’s history and to support the party and candidates that have consistently advocated for freeing Alberta from federal overreach and the repeated economic attacks our province has faced from Ottawa over the past 10 years.
Be interesting to see how far Ottawa will go to keep Alberta under their heel.
ReplyDeleteLook to see every bank account in Alberta to be frozen, and the Liberals continue flooding the province with Somalis.
DeleteHoly Crap! Canonize Ben Franklin! Air drop "Don't tread on me!"
ReplyDeleteI don't think Carney dude can accommodate all these demands. I sure wouldn't want Canada overall to join the US. But Alberta could be OK. Make Alberta Great Again.
ReplyDeletehe is too bz c%ck sukking eu c%ck
DeleteYup. Alberta has the third largest oil reserves in the world but can't get them to markets outside of North America or even to Eastern Canada. With pipelines to the ocean Alberta could become the richest per capita jurisdiction in Canada, possibly North America. I don't think that this will change the results of the April 28th federal election since Alberta currently has 31 conservative MPs out of 34.

It is my understanding that many, if not most, English speaking Canadians think that their country lost its way decades ago. I would not surprise me if eventually the entire $hit hole tries to meld with the US.
ReplyDeleteJust what America needs: ten more blue states and twenty more Democrat senators. [/sarc]
DeleteHey Alberta! Join US
ReplyDeleteAlberta has a lot to be unhappy about. Of the $26.2 Billion (2025) in "equalization payments" that the Federal government collects from the Provinces and redistributes, $13.6 Billion will go to Quebec with the remainder being sent to the three Maritime Provinces and Manitoba. Alberta is by far the largest contributor but still cannot get a natural gas pipeline to Eastern tide water because Quebec will not allow it. Hold on to your hats kids! Steve_in_Ottawa.
ReplyDeleteI read a meme about "Canada sucks because half of them speak French, and the other half let's them"

DeleteSame as Eric above..
DeleteBienvenidos a los Estados Unidos de America mis canadienses amigos!
ReplyDeleteShe's got more balls than the last 2 PMs combined. That said, I'd respect her more if she included "We want our gawddamn guns back" in the big list o' demands.
ReplyDeleteThat should be part of Trump’s selling point to Alberta. Join the US and get lots of sweet US$$ for their oil, and they can spend it all on guns.
DeleteShe already said Ottawa's gun laws are null and void in AB.
DeleteThe rcmp will try and enforce them anyways, they have recently been spotted taking pics of homes they suspect have gun owners unlikely to comply.

If Alberta were to escape, expect Manitoba and Saskatchewan to follow. Very likely British Columbia as well.
ReplyDeleteSay no to Vancouver. Too many commies.
DeleteThe commies can be exported or shot. I love Vancouver!!!
DeleteI hear stories of BC/west coast being run by Chinese immigrants.
DeleteThe Vancouver commies can move to Portland or Seattle and blend right in.
Deleteyes, Vancouver was The Place to Go for Chinese hard currency to be sent for quite some time, buying up real estate with $$$ looted from China despite currency controls - inscrutable Chinese velly smaht. This is what drove the property market bubble in Vancouver - lots and lots of Chinese, mostly CCP-connected or children of CCP-connected big deals.
DeleteI'm not surprised. In my experience doing business there the tensions between the provinces are threatening to tear the country apart. In the US we look at Canada as one country but it doesn't really work that way.
ReplyDeletePossibly as a possession. Chance to become a territory after 50 years good behavior.
ReplyDeleteAmerica are bullies!
ReplyDeleteYeah? And what are you going to do about it?
DeleteTo the best of my memory, Dudley Do-Right was stationed in Alberta. So, my hero, Snidely Whiplash, lived there too.
ReplyDeleteNot one word about the restrictive gun laws in Canada.
ReplyDeleteyou guys may know, but just in case-

Canada started down the tubes when they changed the flag and dumped "The Maple Leaf Forever". Better to have let Quebec go its own way. You'd have thought the French won.
ReplyDeleteWe replaced our flag with a logo. Steve_in_Ottawa
