  1. Could be relevant in the spring or summer, but irrelevant with snow on the ground.

  3. During winter days snakes on the frozen ground are probably popsicles unless they found holes to escape the massive extinction that winter brings.

Here along the Yakima, to the south are the Horse Heaven Hills, and to the north are the Rattlesnake Hills. One has, or had, wild horses. The other? Well, I wear boots and thump the ground with a walking stick when I am walking around up there. Lots of vineyards on the slopes of the Rattlesnakes, by the way, including Red Mountain, the acknowledged best grapes in the state. Oh, and rattlesnakes.

  7. Chimney rock, Nebraska had that sign when we stopped there, the staff told us there had been a rattlesnake on the patio the day before (about where where the sun tea jar was).

  8. They want you to stay on sidewalks so that after you get bitten by the rattlesnakes also on the sidewalks, it's easier for EMS to get to you with the stretcher.
