The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? Those two didn't get along, but they're both still alive and kicking
It truly was Space Opera. They needed outlandish characters to make it enjoyable. I mean who can forget such a cast from Spock to the Tribbles, and the risqué babes in barely clothed bodies they had in some episodes, woof woof!
