This book is apparently greatly annoying the Red Chinese. Good.
Things may be changing - the Proletariat Broadcasting System (PBS) just aired a Frontline episode detailing the ChiCom's efforts to eliminate Tibetan culture.
Hugh Hewitt, on his radio show, is doing a weekly interview with Sen. Cotton on each of the 7 things. Interesting stuff about how deeply the ChiComs have penetrated western, particularly U.S. politics, media, and academia.
And yet you all stand with Trump while he gives China the biggest presents they could have ever hope for.
Taiwan is independent because of the threat that the US will come to its protection in case of a Chinese invasion. Does anyone here think for a second that Trump will stand up to China and protect Taiwan?
Do you want to retreat back to our shores? That is fine, but know that all the space we abandon will be taken over by China. It is fine if you think that we are better of leaving all that space and influence to China but then don't be shocked when all those countries that we turn our backs on look to China next time we need something from them.
In Ukraine there are two clear sides. On one side stands Russia, Iran, North Korea and China. For years the US stood on the opposite side but now we are switching sides to help Russia and China.
When Trump started playing with tariffs he applied 25% on Mexico and Canada but only 10% on China.
Trump had the chance of taking away TikTok. China's largest espionage and crowd control tool in the US. Once again Trump blinked and gave China all they wanted.
So, go read Tom Cotton's book but then act accordingly. If you read the book and come to the conclusion that China is the bad guy then act accordingly and vote people that oppose them. If you think that China is the good guy then keep voting MAGA.

If Taiwan gets attacked the Japanese will be first responders as Taiwan has huge cultural common ground with Japan following 50 years of Japanese administration that ended in 1945. If Japan steps up so will the USA and if the USA does Australia does and probably some asian countries that already feel threatened by Chinese expansionism.

The Chinese communists lie, cheat, steal, kidnap, torture, murder, and abuse the planet. Where do you suppose most illegal ivory goes? (I myself don’t know, but I have my suspicions. I think Yemen used to be the primary consumer of rhino horns; every studly Yemeni needed that for the handle of his dagger.) Why doesn’t anyone talk about the ecological impact of the militarized artificial islands they’ve built? (I'm not an environmentalist wacko, but equal treatment is only fair.) They’ve established their own (secret) police stations in the US, and they keep tabs on nonconformist Chinese wherever they are in the world . . . but apparently they won’t do anything to control illegal activity by their citizens . . . anywhere else in the world but China. (Sending endangered turtles from the US back to China, as a delicacy. Ditto, species like pangolins.) Climate change is a big scam, but China and India get a pass. How much does completely inadequate solid waste disposal AND the Chinese fishing fleet contribute to mid-ocean pollution. And on and on it goes . . .
When I worked DoD field ops in the 80s, we were in HK assisting the Ghurka Regiment. We got our target trying to sneak in. Saw those Gs hand over approx 50 illegals from C to the CCP Border police. They took them behind a small hillock with a long shed on top and shot them all.
