The Sudden Canyon

  1. I'm a bit confused with the term "sudden canyon." Most naturally occurring trenches like this one took millions of years to form.

Perhaps that term is for someone trekking along and comes upon this "suddenly."

    1. You ever been to Palo Duro Canyon in north Texas? You're driving along at 75mph, and then the speed limit suddenly goes to 55, then to 45, and then to 35, and you can't see any reason for it.

And then you're right on the edge of the canyon and you didn't even know it was there. That's what it means.

  5. Rafted down that section of the river a few years ago. Had a blast, but kept worrying the two tectonic plates were going to shift and swallow both the river and our raft.
