  1. Knew someone in Boston that caught stripers using a surf fly rod. 36 inch and above for keepers.

    1. As kids, stayed at a uncles place south beach line on Marthas Vineyard, few times a week go down, dig a big pit above high tide, build a nice roaring drift wood log fire, beach was polluted with it, take turns surf casting for stripers, pretty big when they where running, blues too, 42 inches min back late 70's, just superb eating, and any legal ones couple local eateries paid 10lbs on the hoof, which was really good money back then. If a school was at that spot easy all if us would catch legal fish, plus the big blues, those we would take one of, stuff and wrap in foil, throw on the coals, extremely tasty fresh cooked that way, hardly any heavy oiliness they get sitting a day or so. But those stripers git that creamy flaky flesh, fantastic eats.
