Sailing Away

  1. As to aviators, to mariners the land represents danger. Returning to port, approaching to land, the end of a passage, usually tired, though it is that moment requiring the most vigilance. Both are immensely satisfying of done right.

  2. As much as I loved sailing, as soon as I went below, my stomach told me to get back on deck!

    1. My first cruise in the Navy was a hard ride for my stomach. By the end of the first month, it had settled down. The first rule is never skip a meal. If you throw up, fill your stomach again. Never break those two rules.
