  1. Interesting how the 30 year old bird has flown so long with such a decent flight hour record, at a sustainable per hour cost, in comparison, yet both do pretty much the same in the stealth department.

    2. Where are you getting that they have the same radar signature? As I understand, they most definitely do not. Additionally, the F-117 is a bomber (designated "F" to make it easier to recruit fighter pilots to fly it) whereas the Raptor is a supercruise capable, thrust vectoring, air dominance fighter.

      Entirely different missions and capabilities.

  2. I worked om White Sands Missile Range. you would see this often. a stealth doing stealth things and a metal plane in tight formation so they could know where the stealth was.

    1. The "metal" plane here is more stealthy than the "stealth" plane in this pic.

      But I know what you meant.
      Watched a B-2 flying in a Red Flag over the dry lake north of Baker, CA.
      With a T-38 in trail, so the E-2 AWACS could tell where the B-2 actually was.
